Abstract
Pride and Prejudice is one of Jane Austin's representative works. Jane is a famous novelist in 19th century. The novel, centered on the love story of Darcy couple, describes four different kinds of marriages. Jane Austin expresses her own opinions on gender discrimination and women’s positions in marriages through the novel. So it is meaningful to refer to the book while studying on social views on love and marriage.
This paper firstly studies the four different marriages described in the novel and then find out the values that the author wants to tell us by comparison. Then, the reasons for different views on marriages will be analyzed in terms of cultural background, social class and female predicaments. At last, it will make a conclusion on modern enlightenment of views on marriages in Pride and Prejudice.
