Abstract
The masterpiece Jane Eyre symbolized a new era in the history of literature. It raised women’s awareness to be independent and self-respect. It brought about some new views about marriage and life. If people are married, some elements must exist, such as true love, equality and respect. Women should reject the marriage that is based one social ranks, money or appearance. Marriage should combine souls with bodies together. Jane, the main character of the novel Jane Eyre, has successfully demonstrated a woman who is independent, kind , clever , and in addition, she is brave enough to break down the social conventions and traditional views and stick to her credo in life.
This essay is to analyse and advocate the spirits of feminism reflected in this novel. At the same time, I want to give some enlightenment for modern women by this work.
Key Words: Feminism, marriage, true love, equality, self- respect, kind, enlightenment
