Abstract

 

Today, many teaching ways are mostly that teachers make students recite the spelling, meaning of words, not help students study and master the words in the context. Simultaneously, teachers also ignore the main stance during the process of study. Learning vocabulary is the most important step in the study of English. Vocabulary which cannot be used freely by students is not meaningful. Therefore, teacher should utilize vocabulary teaching methods which are based on student-centered and guide the students to study vocabulary rather than replace them in the process of vocabulary study. This paper states the importance of student-centered teaching methods on the basis of certain theories, and presents some strategies of vocabulary teaching, which can help students learn vocabulary effectively and promote themselves in the future.
