Abstract
Anne Rice is an American contemporary writer, who is famous for writing vampire novels. Her representative work is Vampire Chronicles, which is called the Bible of vampires by vampire fans and researchers. This thesis examines the images of vampire in Vampire Chronicles from three aspects. From religion aspect, the vampire images in Vampire Chronicles are the subversion of the tradition religious relationship. From philosophy aspect, Anne Rise created the vampires which are helpless to the plight of survival. The aim is to make readers think more about life and death. From sociology aspect, the novel explores the relationship between Anne Rise’s vampire and social situation, digs up the roots in which Rice’s vampire were from a deeper level in order to get to know the deeper essence of these vampires.
