Abstract
This thesis focuses on comparing the teacher certification system between in the US and in China, and has some advice from the advantages of American system and policies. Teacher, as a comfortable and welfare job in China, is always the first choice of most college graduates. And one of the requirements to teach in a school is getting the teacher certification. Therefore, it’s necessary to know the merits and disadvantages of Chinese system and how it works. And America is the only superpower around the world, its many policies are advanced and have been used as the reference by other countries especially for China. This study will start with the history of the two teacher certification systems, and compare the administrative organizations, the policies and policy makers, the conditions and progress to get the certification, the types of it and the timeliness and so on to get the strong and weak points of the two systems. Then it will offer some proposals by the comparisons to improve the Chinese teacher certification system.
