Abstract
The novel The Moon and Sixpence written by Maugham shows great narrative techniques, which can be seen from the narrative perspective and the space narrative perspective. It demonstrates the transformation of the protagonist from an average person to an artist. It lets the reader examine the work with a calm and objective view. Meanwhile, the use of space narrative promotes the development of the story with the change of the four dwellings of the protagonist. In addition, the author uses verbal irony and situational irony.
