Abstract

Idioms are the carrier of culture and the essence of language, which are quite common and indispensable in language use, hence, the translation of idioms is not only the translation of language, but also the translation of culture. Thus, it is no wonder that the study on translation of English idioms has long been an important research topic on which more and more researches have made studies on in recent years. The meaning of an idiom is not the sum of the literal meanings of words, and sometimes the implied meaning of the idiom can be figured out in cognitive ways.
