Abstract

 

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China held in November 2012, General Secretray Xi Jinping has made many important speeches on many occasions. Comrade Xi Jinping, as the top leader of the Chinese party and state, has delivered a lot of speeches especially on the rule of state and put forward many new ideas and thoughts. He established the “four comprehensives” strategic layout with the great political and theoretical courage of politicians and strategists, and on what is the basic problem of socialist modernization power, how to build a socialist modernization power, and initially formed the theory of governance.

The translation terminology of domestication and foreignization was proposed by the famous American translation theorist Lawrence Venuti from The Translator’s Invisibility in 1995. These two translation strategies are united and mutually reinforcing.

This thesis sums up President Xi Jinping’s language characteristics and his ideas of governance by using a large number of examples and studies how to translate President Xi Jinping’s speeches better through the theory of domestication and foreignization.
