Abstract: The tourist text translation aims to promote tourist attractions,attract foreign tourists,and motivate them to visit places of interest.Tourist text involves rich cultural connection,and we can say that culture is the soul of tourism,tourism is the expression of culture.However,in the historical development course of different ethnic groups,they formed their own unique cultural with characteristics because of some reason.The information in some languages can not be found the corresponding elements in different cultures,which often makes the translator likely be in imbalance condition in cross-cultural tourist translation,causing unnecessary cultural loss.In this paper,it will find out elements which are easy to produce cultural default in the process of the translation of tourist brochures,including historical background,literary works,social customs,geographical factors,traditional concepts and beliefs.In addition,it proposes six cultural compensation strategies,i.e.literal translation,adaption,cultural paraphrasing,contextual amplification,omission and annotation in order to achieve the publicity effect of tourist brochures.
