Abstract:Language is an open system. With the development of the society, it always changes. The purpose of Chinese neologism translation is to let foreigners understand the changes happening in China and its new trend. By using as examples the network buzzwords and proper nouns which often appear in the daily life, media and the Internet, this paper discusses skopostheory in translation of Chinese neologisms. And then it gives a relatively accurate translation and summarizes the corresponding translation strategies and methods. Finally this paper concludes that the skopostheory can be used to guide translation of Chinese neologism.
