Abstract:As one of the most important stages for young people’s growth, senior high study plays a decisive role in cultivating students’ learning habits, characters and interests. Thus, it should be put on the agenda that we should pay more attention to the English teaching in senior high. Besides, as the New Curriculum Reform has been increasingly deepened, a large number of scholars has put many theories, methods and models into use to promote the efficiency of English teaching. Scaffolding teaching has been availed in many fields, such as math teaching, information technology, etc. But there is large insufficiency of research of scaffolding teaching in English class in senior high. Therefore, in the paper the author explores the measures of scaffolding teaching in senior high English teaching. And it also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of scaffolding teaching, namely its benefits in improving students’ interest, metacognitive skills and abilities to solve problems and its harm in the students’ tendency to make mistakes in English expression.
