Abstract: Anxiety is a complicated affective state with tension, worry and fear when someone confronts coming or possible threat and danger. In the mid of 1980s, the American psychologist Horwitz and his colleagues began to study foreign language learning anxiety, from then on , foreign language learning anxiety has become a hot topic among foreign language researchers. In recent years, the foreign research about learning anxiety has been mature, and domestic research on English learning anxiety also gradually increase, while still few of study focus on English learning anxiety of junior middle school students. Therefore using the research methods of questionnaires and interviews, this research based on the previous theory of English learning anxiety investigatees tries to solve the following problems: 1. What is the overall status of junior middle school students’ English learning anxiety? 2. What factors influence English learning anxiety of junior middle school students? 3. How to reduce and eliminate English learning anxiety of junior middle school student? Using Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale as the questionnaire, this study tested 325 students from Longquan the third middle school and Yibin the fourth middle school by random, and then interviewed a random sample of 13students.
