Abstract: In a person's life there are always some kinds of factors influencing a person’s development, or even affecting a person's fate. And among these factors, the characters are what everyone can't avoid. Characters affect people's way of doing things, affect a person's values and affect a person's fate. In this paper, the fate of the protagonist Joseph is such a bright example. Through the discussion of this article we know that a man's character can be made, especially since he is a child. Cultivating good characters can change our fates.
This paper mainly revolves around the discussions Joseph's character and his destiny. The body of the paper is divided into seven parts. First is about the analysis of Joseph's characters and his ill-fated life. Judging by his characters, we can know his values orientation, namely his asceticism values which affects his life. Under the influence of the values, his fate changed subsequently. So naturally we will discuss whether one's character can be changed through the efforts, so as to change the life of a person. Finally we can draw a conclusion that one’s characters can change one's fate and we can change our characters through efforts.
