Abstract:It is well-known that English is the most common foreign language, used in the world. It has strategic significance of learning English in later life and work. In order to pace up with economic globalization and society information, since the 1990s, cooperative learning theory has been introduced into English class in china. Before that, English teacher tend to lay particular stress on and teach the language knowledge of English, ignoring the training of students’ skills, and make students become passive recipient of language knowledge. Besides, most students will not feel interested in English .It may cause one result, the study restrain the students’ improvement and development of English. Besides, according to English curriculum Standard for Chinese Senior Middle School(issued by the Education Ministry of the People’s Republic of China,2013),the word “key competences “explicitly pointed out that cultivating the students’ ability of cooperative learning is a key issue. With the implementation of English course standard, more and more teacher start to change their teaching method. For example divide the whole students into several groups, the teacher assign each of them task, during the classroom, students speak freely, think positively, and discuss positively. At last, it will improve the students’ enthusiasm for study, and promote the intern motivation for study.
In view of that, combining the reality of classroom observation, questionnaire survey of high school English classroom, the author investigated the cooperative learning. Cooperative learning theory in English classroom is also put into practice and test the guide of learning theory. Before the experiment, the author chose two parallel classes in Xinjin middle school and have a pretest in order to have a general understanding about their ability in study. And compared the different grades between the two classes, it can find the existing problems in the Cooperative Learning English Class. And the dissertation puts forward some constructive suggestions of Cooperative learning through scientific analysis of the problem.
