Abstract: Gone With the Wind is a masterpiece written by Margaret Mitchell and it took her roughly ten years to complete it. The book mainly described the stormy life of the heroin during the civil war as well as her course of struggle. It had aroused huge response around the world since its publishing. And its charm is ever-lasting. It had influenced the spiritual world of generation after generation. The reason why this book is so popular is that the author had successfully built the image of Scarlett and made it deeply rooted in people’s heart. My paper is going to analyze Scarlett’s growth through the analyzing of her characters, life experiences, view of love and marriages, homeland consciousness, etc.
