Abstract
Much more stringent requirements on English vocabulary teaching in senior high school have been put forward by New English Curriculum Standard, demanding the English vocabulary teaching should be based on how the English vocabulary is used. However, because of the restriction of space or other possible reasons, the way of English vocabulary teaching has not been changed much. This paper takes the students of Class twenty-one and Class thirteen of Grade two in Hangtian senior high school of Chengdu as an example to do a research. And based on some relevant theories and with the help of questionnaire and interview, the author finds out the problems the teachers have when teaching vocabulary, and at the same time the author puts forth some possible strategies to solve the problems.
