Abstract
In current days, the cooperative learning is widely promoted. As a kind of effective cooperative learning, Jigsaw mode can stimulate students’ enthusiasm and their spirit of cooperation, is now more and more applied across diverse disciplines. This paper focuses on the specific use of Jigsaw mode in English reading class. It includes an illustration of the origin and development of the Jigsaw mode, followed by the theoretical background and basic steps of the Jigsaw mode, and emphasis is placed on the specific case study of the Jigsaw mode applied in English reading classroom and the feedback and reflections from several aspects. The procedure is useful in analyzing the advantages of Jigsaw mode and what we can do to make up for the potential problems in the future. Through the case study of Jigsaw mode in English reading class, the author hopes to give more effective guidance to students in English reading, train the abilities of students’ self-learning and cooperative learning. What’s more, the ultimate goal of this paper is to find out whether the Jigsaw mode can be better applied in English teaching through feedback and reflections, thus further improve the English reading teaching.
