Abstract
In recent years, the flipped classroom has garnered all the attention of the educational circles around the world. This new pedagogical approach reverses or “flips” the traditional teaching model in which students learn initial course concepts and knowledge outside of the classroom, while class time is reserved for more active problem-based learning and practical activities. However, the “teacher-centered” lectures are still the main teaching method in junior high schools, which is not conducive to autonomous learning ability and dampens students’ learning interest. Aiming to arouse students’ learning passion for English, the author adopts the flipped classroom teaching method in the course of her internship in Beijing Road Middle School. The author uses the first monthly test scores as the reference to compare the result of the experiment. After two months of practice, the author gives a test and a questionnaire to the students. Statistics shows that most of the students are fond of this new teaching mode and get higher score in the test. And at the end of the article, the author points out some limitations of the research and puts forward some suggestions of the flip teaching in junior high school English teaching.
