ABSTRACT
Dragon seed is a novel byPearl S. Buck which described the cruel actions of the Japanese troops during the anti-JapaneseWar. It told about a typical Chinese peasant Lin Yan and his family’ s miserable life under the control of Japanese invaders and showed their hatred towards Japanese invaders. Like Dragon seed, Four Generations Under One Roof , written by famous Chinese writer Lao She also described the painful life of Chinese citizens in the anti-JapaneseWar. .This paper makes a contrastive study of the two novels, and finds that the characters of the two novels are quite similar. Both writers created the image of fighters, traitors and invaders in the War and expressed their abhorrence for the Japanese invaders and strong desire for peace.
