Abstract: Anxiety, one of the most crucial affective factors in foreign language acquisition, often occurs in English classes, especially when teacher asks students some questions. As teachers’ questioning takes up much of English classes compared with other classroom activities, questioning in English classes has an effect on students’ anxiety, and there is no exception for English majors. In this paper, the writer explores the anxiety status of English-majored students in Nanjing Xiaozhuang University during the process of answering questions by making use of a questionnaire. It aims to offer some suggestions on controlling the students’ anxiety to a relative low level according to the analysis of the questionnaire.
