Abstract: In China the number of people who are studying English has outnumbered that of many other nations. As a super nation in international politics and economy, the Chinese culture influences English language enormously. As a result, China English, a variety of English, evolved. It arouses the worldwide interests from the linguists. English is the product of cross-cultural communication, articulating various types of Chinese cultural events and phenomena, and it can be taken to be a bridge between Chinese culture and western culture. It is the best channel for the overseas to know more about China. With great prospects of application and practical value, it has become an essential medium for China to contact the outside world, and it has it’s rationality o f existence from the perspective of cross-cultural communication. The paper mainly consists of three parts. In part one, according to the definition of China English, the paper expounds its linguistic features. Part two deals with its significance in communication. Part three describes the current situation and prospects of China English.
