ABSTRACT
One Hundred Years of Solitude was a famous works to describe the situation of Columbia. The author used symbolism as the main rhetorical device to offer a detailed description of seven generations of the Macondo and Buendia’s family, which aroused people’s concern about the current situation in Columbia and in the whole Latin America. This paper mainly researched and analyzed symbolism from plot, colors, characters, objects and others elements in One Hundred Years of Solitude, which aimed to probe into the theme of the novel and analyze its meaning so as to help readers to have a better and deeper understanding of this novel.
