Abstract:The dialogues among characters in novel are the main way for the original author to express emotions and the gist of writing. Therefore, the quality of their translation, to some degree, decides whether or not target readers can have the same feeling as the author.
Based on the functional equivalence, a famous translation theory by Nida, this thesis takes Li Tianqi’s translation version as the research subject, and mainly makes a study on the E-C translation of dialogues in Of Mice and Men from the perspective of functional equivalence in order to explore the appropriate translation methods for the E-C translation of conversations in English novels.
