Abstract:Culture is an important part of human civilization. Just one of those things, language is an important element of the cultural system and also the major cultural communication carrier. Language is learned and used in cultural context; language can convey to us the politics, economic and cultural development, customs, beliefs and traditions of a nation.
Vocabulary is the key element of a language. The impact of culture on language is mainly reflected in its vocabulary. The lexicon reflects a nation’s philosophy, rites, customs, religious beliefs, psychology and arts. This study of the western cultural meaning of words from the perspective of cultural linguistics is intended to draw more attention to the cultural aspects of words.
With the exposition of the integral relationship between language and culture, this thesis puts more emphasis on the western cultural elements of English vocabulary. And from the perspective of cultural connotation in English vocabulary, analyses the cultural diversity of English vocabulary and the multidirectional relationship between English words and cultural phenomena.

摘要：文化是人类文明的重要组成部分。就其中所包含的东西来说，语言是文化系统中所包含的重要的因素也是主要的文化传播载体。语言在文化语境中被学习与使用；语言能够传达给我们一个国家的政治、经济、文化发展状况、习俗、信仰和传统。
词汇是语言的基本组成部分之一，它反映了语言中包含的文化信息，反映了一个国家的哲学、礼仪、风俗习惯、宗教信仰、心理和艺术。这个课题从文化语言学的视角出发侧重表达英语词汇的西方文化内涵。
本文在阐述语言与文化密不可分的关系的同时，重点突出英语词汇中的西方文化元素。并从英语词汇的文化内涵角度出发，分析英语词汇的文化多样性以及英语词汇与文化现象之间的多向关系。
