Abstract:Language and culture are inseparable form each other. Culture is an important component of foreign language teaching and learning. In China, due to the teaching focus on linguistic competence, many college students still lack cultural consciousness and intercultural communicative competence. It is, therefore, necessary to introduce culture in college English teaching. For effective cultural introduction, teachers may adopt the following strategies: first, to introduce culture at three levels (eliminating the language barriers, introducing systematic cultural knowledge and introducing origins of cultural difference); second, to introduce culture practically, hierarchically, objectively and appropriately; third, to decide on appropriate content (vocabulary, discourse and non-verbal communication) of cultural introduction; last, to adopt various approaches (direct explanation, comparison, integration practice) flexibly in cultural introduction.

摘要:语言和文化是密不可分的。文化是外语教学和学习的重要组成部分。在中国,由于教学侧重语言能力的培养,导致许多大学生仍缺乏文化意识和跨文化交际能力。因此,在大学英语教学中导入文化是有必要的。为了有效的进行文化导入,教师可以采取以下策略。首先,文化导入可在三个层次(消除学生的语言障碍,导入系统的文化知识,导入文化差异的根源)上进行。其次,文化导入应遵循实用性、阶段性、客观性、适度性等原则。然后,文化导入应选择适当的内容,可从词汇、语篇、非语言交际等方面考虑。最后,文化导入应灵活采用多种方法,如直接讲解、对比、融合、实践等。
