Abstract:La dame aux camelias, written by Alexandre Dumas fils, moved a lot of people by its protagonist Marguerite's humble origin and tragic fate. Marguerite is a beautiful, bright and goodness woman. Although she is lured to become a courtesan, she remains virginal and magnificent. She is full of passion and hope and is eager for true love. However, when her hope faded, she is willing to sacrifice herself for helping others. All these make the poor girl shining with holy light. During that time the life of upper classes of society is dissipated, and they regard the poor girl who often earn their living as prostitutes as playthings.
This essay tries to analyse the causes of Marguerite's tragic fate and points out that Margret has a weak sense of awakening and she dares to resisting the Masculinist. It is because of the contradictory nature of Margret's character and her unique charm of human nature that intensify the embodiment of Masculinity.
