Abstract：American Individualism，as a kind of ideology and values，is the leading values of American life, which has already developed into the core of American culture. Among the range of American culture, individualism advocates diligence, pursuit of equality and liberty, and self-realization in maximum. Moreover, these characteristics are permeated in all fields of economics, politics, society even the creed of the public. American Creed is the source of the mind and the cornerstone of the society，which has become the value widely accepted by general public, rooting in the depth of people’s ideology. Through analyzing the American film The Pursuit of Happyness, which was a highly inspiring film adapted from the true experiences of investor Christ Gardner, this thesis demonstrates the effect of American Individualism on the American creed from three aspects, including the depiction of the protagonist’ trait, the equality and liberty in The Declaration of Independence, and the self-realization. The paper hopes that the finding of this dissertation can help people better comprehend the influence of American Individualism in the field of American Creed and provide inspiration and help for the researches between them.

摘要：个人主义作为一种意识形态和价值观，是美国人生活的主导价值观，已经发展成为美国文化的核心。在美国文化当中，个人主义崇尚个人奋斗，追求平等自由，以及实现自身最大价值等，并且，这些特征渗透到美国社会的各方面，包括经济，政治，社会乃至民众生活信念。当中，美国信念是维系美国民众的精神源泉和社会基石，已经成为民众普遍的价值认同，并深深地扎根在他们意识的深层。本文主要从美国电影《当幸福来敲门》中选取数个片段，包括性格描写，自由平等的权利，以及实现自身价值等，从三个方面分析美国个人主义对其公民生活信念的塑造及其影响。希望本文的研究有助于大家更好了解美国个人主义对美国信念的作用，为思考其两者之间的关系提供启发和帮助。
