Abstract:Conflict talk is an interesting topic for English learning major for which it seldom gets into the attention of language scholars and from which we can get to know the native daily expression. There are different names of this discordant term like adversative episode, verbal discord and oppositional argument. Owing to the development of linguistic researches, the analyses of conflict talk worth more and more to be studied. However, compared with the researches abroad, our researches at home need to get improved both in the range and quality. We still have a lot to do.
This dissertation uses the scripts and dialogues between lovers and among family members in the present American soap opera Gossip Girl as my studying material. It explains how conflict talk is started, developed and ended. Meanwhile it gives the causes of conflict talk and the relative explanation from the pragmatics perspective. I use data driven analysis. The present study is based on the data collected with four processes: first, getting the conversations from opera; second, writing the data from the subtitles; third, analyzing the collected data, and lastly, reporting the findings.

摘要:冲突性话语很少进入语言研究者的研究范畴，所以对于英语专业的学生来说是个有趣的话题。而且我们能从中学习到地道的日常英语。冲突性话语也称为冲突话语、争论性话语、争执话语。随着语言研究的发展，这个话题越发值得探究。然而，我国的冲突性话语研究无论是在广度上还是在深度上都远不及国外的研究，我们还有很广阔的研究空间。
本论文以美国本土热播连续剧《绯闻少女》为研究题材，通过对剧中家庭成员和恋人间的对话分析冲突话语的开始，发展和结束这三个阶段的特点，产生冲突的原因以及语用学对冲突话语的解释。本文采用数据分析方法，从四个步骤进行研究：第一步，收集对白中的所有话语冲突；第二步，摘抄话语的字幕；第三步，分析语料；最后一步，报告研究结果。
