Abstract：The dissertation is an attempt to apply a German functionalist approach to movie script translation, with the case study of the American animated movie Kung Fu Panda, which won the Annie Awards—the “Oscar” awards in animation field in 2008, and won Jinhou Awards in China as the best animation foreign movie in 2009.
The dissertation consists of a theoretical discussion and a case study. Under the guidance of German functionalist Christine Nord’s more comprehensive approach, the case study is conducted from three aspects—interpreting translation brief, translation-oriented source text analysis, and target text analysis. The translation brief analysis determines what kind of translation would be needed, the source text analysis clarifies the influence of the source text on target text, and finally, the results of the target text analysis are obtained from Coherence rule, Fidelity rule, and Skopos rule. The dissertation aims to combine a functionalist approach into English-Chinese movie script translation study, hoping it will be helpful in further study of film script translation on quality improvement and criticism.

摘要：美国梦工厂出品的动画片《功夫熊猫》是内地上映的第一部票房过亿的动画片。该片于2008年获得美国动画片“奥斯卡” —— 安妮奖，并于2009年在中国以最佳外国动画片唱片而获得“金猴奖”。本文采用德国功能翻译理论的研究方法，旨在通过个案研究将翻译方法与电影剧本翻译实践相结合，使电影剧本翻译方面的研究更具有意义和理论深度。
本文以德国功能翻译理论学派代表人物克里斯蒂安·诺德的功能翻译方法为理论框架，采用自上而下的方法进行的个案研究，文章从确定翻译纲要、以翻译为导向的源文本分析和译文分析三个方面对案例进行研究。翻译纲要确定了翻译的方向；源文本分析阐述了源文本特征对译文的潜在影响；译文的分析从连贯原则、忠实原则、目的原则三个方面探讨了翻译策略的使用及其效果。
本文是翻译理论和翻译实践相结合的个案研究，希望这一案例分析，有助于功能翻译理论在电影剧本翻译实践中的运用和电影剧本翻译质量的提高，并引起更多的学者关注这一段新的翻译领域。
