Abstract:In recent years, as more and more people choose immigration, cultural identity, double identity, and a series of problem has caused the attention of people. They tried to be accepted identity, and attempted to change life-style and values blend into new countries, however, during this progress, they suffered the torture of double identity. There is conflict between entrenched country complexes, the culture, the way of thinking, values, etc and foreign culture.
This dissertation aims to conduct the conflicts and integration between the first and the second generation immigrants in the Joy Luck Club in perspective of Cultural Unconsciousness. And use a correct attitude towards culture .It not only help us know more about immigrants and take care of them but also help us have better understanding of stumbling block during cross-cultural communication.

摘要:近年来,随着越来越多人选择移民,文化认同,双重身份等一系列的问题引起了人们的关注。他们试图努力被接受其身份,努力改变原有的生活方式及价值观使融入到新的国家,然而,在这一过程中,他们受到双重身份的折磨,根深蒂固的祖国情结,文化,思维方式,价值观等与外来文化产出冲突。
本论文从文化无意识的角度解读《喜福会》中第一与第二代华裔人之间的冲突与融合;以及用正确的态度看待文化。这不仅使我们更加了解华裔的无奈和痛苦,而给予关心与重视,而且对于我们了解跨文化交际中的差异有一定的指导意义。

From the Joy Luck club, the author describes 4 mother-daughter pairs in the novel, mothers are the first generation immigrants, and the daughters are born in America. The Joy Luck Club mothers are from Chinese traditional culture families when the distortional Chinese power is destroyed by the Japanese insurgents in the 1940s.They escape from the political upheaval of China, but they don’t forget their Chinese traditional culture, while their daughters are born in America, they the second generation, immigrants, and they don’t understand their mother’s Chinese culture, and their way of thinking, so there are often misunderstandings between the mothers and the daughters. Therefore, many conflicts in the mother-daughter relationship are appeared in this novel. Although Amy Tan mainly describes the cultural clashes in her novel, her real aim is to explore a balance of cultural conflicts. An important theme of the novel is the reconciliation of the multi-cultural clashes.
Today, more and more Chinese people choose live abroad. From the view on the early period of immigrants to today’s immigrants, they all inevitably face culture shocks, or even conflicts. In order to help readers know more about the conflict between the first and the second generation immigrants, this dissertation analysis the Marginal man of The Joy Luck Club from the Perspective of Cultural Unconsciousness. This dissertation aims to conduct why and how the Cultural Unconsciousness affects Marginal man’ behavior. It not only help us know more about immigrants and take care of them but also help us have better understanding of stumbling block during cross-cultural communication.
