Abstract: Robinson Crusoe, the first novel written by Daniel Defoe who lived in the age of nascent bourgeoisie, presents readers the legendary experiences of Robinson Crusoe, which arouses readers’ desire for the island life. Through the analysis of his roles as a bourgeoisie, a colonizer and a pioneer, this paper aims to probe into the multi-images of the protagonist Robinson Crusoe in the period of rising capitalism. Firstly, both his middle-class family background and the social environment endow him with the characteristics of a bourgeoisie. Secondly, he encounters a storm and comes to an isolated island. He takes control of everything in the island as his private property, which reflects his nature as a colonizer. Finally, he has brought advanced technology to the island and improved the conditions there. He is also a pioneer.

摘要：资产阶级兴起时代的丹尼尔·笛福所著第一部小说《鲁滨逊漂流记》,为读者呈现了主人公的传奇经历，唤起读者对孤岛生活的向往。本文通过对鲁滨逊作为资产阶级、殖民者、开拓先锋的角色分析，旨在探究处在资本主义上升时期鲁滨逊的多重人物形象。首先，他出生于中产阶级的家庭背景，连同当时的社会大环境，赋予他资产阶级的特质。其次，他遭遇风暴，流落荒岛，并将岛上一切都据为己有，充分体现了其殖民者的本质。最后，他给荒岛带去了先进的科技，改善了荒岛的条件，因而他又是一名开拓先锋。

Robinson’s life motto is “Never give up.” He uses his head and hands to struggle all the time. He is the very prototype of the empire builder and the pioneer colonist. He is both the hero who exploits nature and the first idealized image of the western rising bourgeoisie. His life on the isolated island shows that he is an energetic, courageous, diligent and wise person with great ambition and great capability of human labor. A lot of teenage readers are attracted by the legendary experience of the protagonist that arouses their imagination of and desire for the island life. Jin Jun analyzed the image of Robinson Crusoe from the angle of the age in which Daniel Defoe lives. Robinson, as a representative of a pioneer, a bourgeoisie, an exploiter and a colonizer, has a great influence on the development of the capitalism. Through the analysis of all the behaviors of Robinson in the island, this paper aims to probe into the multi- images of Robinson in the period of rising capitalism.
