Abstract：This paper will focus on the analysis of Dorian Gray, the protagonist of The Picture of Dorian Gray of Oscar Wilde, a famous writer of aestheticism. As one of masterpieces of aestheticism in literature, Wilde adopted various ways to depict Dorian Gray in different aspects, through which he intended to express the ideal and conception of aestheticism. This paper is dedicated to analyzing three main characteristics of Dorian Gray through the interpretation of words and deeds of characters, psychological descriptions and lateral descriptions in the text. The paper will be divided into three parts for the analysis. The first part is to interpret Dorian Gray’s egoism by his doings and attitude towards others. The second part will mainly elaborate his obsession for physical beauty and sensuous pleasure by means of exploring his life style and indulgence. And the third part will prove that Dorian Gray is an immorality person through expounding his vice.
Dorian Gray hides his inner depravity and darkness subtly in front of the public by his external youth and beauty, however, when he faces the portrait which reflects his real heart, he is just a sinner who is heinous, egoistic and is addicted to sensuous pleasure.

中文摘要：本论文主要剖析著名唯美主义作家奥斯卡·王尔德《道连·格雷的画像》中的主人公道连·格雷的性格及特点。作为唯美主义文学的代表作之一，王尔德在这部小说中采用了多种方法并从不同角度刻画了道连·格雷这一人物形象，从而借其表达唯美主义的理想及观念。本论文将通过小说中的人物言行，心理描写及侧面描写来主要分析阐述主人公道连·格雷的三个主要特点。论文将分为三个部分来进行分析。第一部分是通过道连·格雷对于他人的态度及行为来分析其自私自利的个性。第二部分将主要以道连·格雷自身的作风及嗜好来说明其沉湎于感官享受及爱慕外在美的特点。而第三部分将通过道连·格雷的恶行阐述其不道德的内在本质。
道连·格雷以其外在的青春与美貌在世人中巧妙地掩盖了其内在的邪恶与阴暗，但当面对那幅真实反映其内心的画像时，他只不过是一个恶行累累，自私自利，沉溺于感官享受的罪人罢了。
