Abstract: Nathanial Hawthorne is an extremely renowned American writer. The Scarlet Letter is his masterpiece, the theme of which is characterized by multiplicity. Various conclusions are drawn in the field of the thematic studies. And feminism in The Scarlet Letter has also got people’s attention. The paper tries to analyze the character of Hester and her pursuit of natural person’s interests from the view of feminism, and with the analysis to probe into Hawthorne’s idea about women’s rights.

摘要：纳撒尼尔·霍桑是美国著名的小说家。《红字》是霍桑的代表作品，它的主题具有多样性的特点。因此在主题研究领域存在各种不同的结论，其中所表现的女权主义倾向也吸引了众多目光。本文从女权主义的角度分析海丝特的自然人形象及利益追求, 阐述女权主义在海斯特身上的体现,并以此探究作者霍桑的女权思想。
