ABSTRACT:The study purpose of the proverb translation is to exchange the idea and culture. In the course of cross-cultural proverb translation, having a good command of cross-cultural information is of vital importance. In this paper, I generally focus not only on the cross-cultural connotation and connection of English and Chinese proverb, but also on the analysis of the translation skill--- free translation, literal translation and equivalent translation, which is integrated with the elements of cross-culture. What I put forward is the essential principles in the proverb translation---“seeking the common points while reserving the differences”, “ faithfulness to the original” and “bridge the gap of the intercultural translation”. And the ultimate goal of this paper is to guide the English learners to taste the English proverb from the surface to the deeper level, to have a better comprehension of western culture, to integrate into the foreign thoughts, to have a good command of English study, and to serve as a generalized code for establishing standards in our daily behavior.

摘 要:研究谚语翻译的目的，是思想文化交流，促进各国、各民族之间的相互理解。在跨文化的谚语翻译过程中，掌握跨文化信息是重中之重。本文显浅地分析了英汉谚语的翻译与跨文化的关系，剖析英汉谚语翻译的文化内涵和文化距离；同时，结合文化与翻译技巧，分析意译、直译和对等译在中英谚语中的巧妙应用，提出在中英谚语翻译中的核心原则：“求同存异”、“忠于原义”和“缩减分歧”，目的让广大英语学习者由浅入深地品味谚语，了解西方文化，融入西方思维，掌握英语学习。
