Abstract:Advertisements play an important role in the commercial world, especially the commercial Advertisements, for they can burst the sales for the company with breathtaking slogans. As we all know, the advertisement needs words to convey meanings to the consumers’ mind, therefore how to express the hidden meanings inside the slogans is pretty essential in advertisements, and the linguistics is the most important aspect to analyze this topic.
Based on the valuable suggestion and achievements made by scholars in this field, the thesis attempts to approach the main language characteristics of English advertisements mainly from the angles of linguistics. The first chapter of our thesis gives a definition of advertisements, and clarifies the purpose and importance of advertising. And the second chapter introduces the previous studies on advertisements. The main body of the thesis tries to analyze phonological, morphological, syntactic and rhetorical features of the advertising English.
It is hoped that this paper will offer some help in understanding and composing advertisements in our daily life.

摘要:随着全球经济一体化的发展,中国加入世界贸易组织之后,经济文化的交流大大发展,广告已经发展成为全球化的交流方式。而语言是实现广告的特定载体,是广告的具体表现形式之一。如何表达英语广告中的语言的隐藏信息是相当重要的,因此语言学是最重要的方面来分析这个主题。
通过总结许多由此领域学者做出的有价值的经验和成就本文旨在语言学的角度,本文通过语言学的角度对广告英语的语言特点进行研究。文章首先讨论广告的定义,阐明广告的目的,重要性。接着介绍了英语广告的研究现状及研究方法。然后论述英语广告的主要语法特点,聚焦于英语广告的常用句子主要结构及其功能。文章正文的部分通过语言学的角度对广告英语的语言特点,形态特点,句法特点和修辞特点进行研究。
本文的理论参照广告学的有关文章,同时结合时尚广告届的新想法,力求能较为全面地研究当代平面广告的语言特点,对理解和探讨英语广告有一定的帮助。
