Abstract: With the rapid development of economic globalization and the prosperity of international business trade,business negotiations are on the dramatic increase. Among the most important traits needed to negotiate successfully are compliment skills. There are many tactics that can be used in the negotiations shortening distance between counter parties and creating harmonious atmosphere. The subject of this paper is the compliments in business negotiations between Chinese and English. The author makes a great effort to analyze the frequency of occurrence, function phase occurrence topic and formula in business negotiations between Chinese and the America so as to disclose the simi1arities as well as the differences in the use of compliments between Chinese and America. The paper aims to make the people to further improve communication skills, enhance the bargaining ability and obtain the desired outcome of the negotiations.

摘要:随着中国经济的发展,国际贸易越发频繁,国际商务谈判对于成功至关重要。在人类的言语交际中,恭维语是一种使用频率较高的言语交际行为。很多恭维应答策略都可以在商务谈判中使用,用于拉近双方的距离,营造和谐的谈判气氛。本文以中美商务谈判中的恭维语为研究对象,采用对比的方法来研究中美商务谈判中恭维语的频率、功能、出现在谈判的哪个阶段、目标、语言形式等。研究出来的差异就折射出中美之间两种不同的民族文化,其目的是发现中美恭维语使用方面的相似性和差异,使谈判人员进一步提高交流技巧,提高谈判能力,获得理想的谈判结果。
