Abstract: Critical discourse analysis has become an important approach to uncover the complicated interrelationship among discourse, power and ideology. The study analyzes two news texts of the Diaoyu Islands dispute between China and Japan from China Daily and The New York Times by analyzing the word selection and reported speech. The aim of this study is to uncover different ideologies hidden behind the news texts and enhance the readers’ ability of critical reading. The conclusion of the paper is that news reports are not always objective. They are influenced by ideas and opinions of the news reporters.

摘要:批评话语分析已经成为了一种重要的揭示话语,权力和意识形态之间复杂关系的话语分析手段。本文从《中国日报》和《纽约时报》中分别选取了关于中日钓鱼岛纠纷的报道,运用批评话语分析的方法,从词汇选择和转述方式两方面进行批评性分析,旨在揭示新闻语篇背后所存在的意识形态差异,提高读者对于新闻的批评阅读能力。研究表明新闻报道会受报道人自己观点的影响,而非总是完全客观。
