Abstract:Appropriateness is an important principle of language communication .Firstly, the essay discusses the definition of the appropriateness of the spoken English in social intercourse .And secondly, it illustrates a lot of improper phenomenon in oral English . Then , this paper analyzes the reasons why there are the appropriateness . The inappropriateness in spoken English are affected by many factors. However, the thinking ways and the background of the cultures are the main factors. Finally, the essay introduces some ways about how to express ourselves appropriately. The teachers should train the students to use proper English and cultivate their habits of expressing themselves in a right way to form a kind of language ability and change the way of study by translation. In addiction , the students should strengthen the explanation and study of the western culture , use the vague English and euphemism , distinguish the different thinking ways and put what we have learned into practice to express ourselves better and appropriately .

摘要:言语得体是说话的重要原则，本文论述了交际中言语得体定义，列举了英语口语表达不得体的现象，并分析了造成英语口语表达不得体的原因，英语口语表达不得体受到众多因素的影响，文化背景和思维方式是制约得体性的两个主要因素。最后论述了如何培养学生使用得体的英语进行交际，教师应有意识地训练学生在语境中用英语，培养在正确的场合使用正确的表达，形成一种语言表达能力改变中英互译式的学习，另加强文化的讲解与学习，使用模糊语。同时，学生要加强英语语言能力的学习，了解西方文化，辨别中西方不同的思维方式，学以致用，懂得如何使用模糊语和委婉语。
