Abstract:Cowboy is a group of professional people who was responsible for taking care of cattle and driving cattle, and they were existed in between 1860s-1890s Although a time belonged to cowboy had passed, they had so much and deeply influence on human beings. In order to understand cowboy and its culture influence better, and this thesis introduced them from three aspects: Firstly, this thesis introduced the development of cowboy, which included cowboy’s emergence, prosperity and its appearance; Secondly, this thesis paid attention to the influence of cowboy culture, which part will emphasis its influence on social life, such as novels, movies, language, costume, music and tourism; Finally, this thesis illustrated cowboy culture represented by the core values of the United States: the sense of individualism, optimistic and entrepreneurship and the spirit of generosity. The cowboy culture already break away from its original meaning, it has become the symbol of multi-culture and an indiscerptible part to the whole world. Although a period about cowboy had passed, the culture and spirit of cowboy have passed on from generation to generation.

摘要:19世纪60年代，随着美国中、东部经济的发展，牛仔应运而生，牛仔时代持续近30年，直到1890年，日渐衰落。虽然一个牛仔的时代过去， 但是他却给人类留下了深远而丰富的影响。为了更好地了解美国牛仔及其文化，本文主要从三个方面对牛仔和牛仔文化进行介绍：首先是牛仔的发展历程包括其出现，繁荣到最后的衰落；接下来介绍牛仔文化在不同方面的影响：本文着重在它对社会生活，如小说，电影，语言，服饰，音乐和旅游业方面的影响；最后，再进一步说明牛仔文化所代表的美国核心精神：个人主义精神，乐观开拓精神和乐善好施的精神。牛仔文化已超越其原本的意义，它也是世界多元文化不可分割的一部分，牛仔精神也将一代代传承下去。
