Abstract: This study aims to investigate into how to improve the communicative competence of primary students in classroom teaching. Factors affecting the development of primary students’ communicative competence in terms of teachers’ teaching ideas and teaching methods, students’ learning psychology and learning motivation, and students’ learning methods are taken into discussion. Two ways of developing primary students’ communicative competence in teaching are proposed. The paper concludes that interest is the key to the improvement of primary students’ communicative competence and teachers should implement all kinds of teaching methods to motivate students’ interest in learning English and help them develop appropriate learning methods.

摘要:本文旨在研究如何在课堂教学中提高小学生的英语交际能力。研究表明诸多因素影响小学生的交际能力培养,如教师的教学理念和教学方法,学生的学习心理特点和学习动机以及他们的学习方法。文中重点讨论了两种适合发展小学生交际能力的教学方法。研究表明就小学阶段而言,学生的学习兴趣是关键,教师必须利用自己的教学方法为学生创造适合学生学习的氛围,激发学生对英语学习的兴趣,并帮助小学生形成良好的学习方法和学习习惯。
