Abstract: By studying the definition, characteristics and functions of nonverbal communication, this article attempts to explore the significance of nonverbal communication in English teaching with a more detailed analysis of the classifications, functions as well as the significance of non-verbal communication. It is hoped to deepen the further understanding of non-verbal communication so as to better apply nonverbal communication in the English classroom. In addition, the author hopes that the capacity of nonverbal communication can be raised, and the teachers’ non-verbal communication awareness also can be enhanced, and a warm atmosphere in English classroom should be created.

摘要：本文通过对非语言交际的定义、特定、功能的研究，旨在探讨非语言交际在英语教学中的意义，并更加详细地认识分析非语言交际的种类，功能以及意义，加深对非语言交际的进一步了解，以便为非语言交际在英语课堂中得到更好的运用，提升非语言交际能力，增强教师的非语言交际意识，营造良好的课堂氛围等。
