Abstract: With more and more foreign movies imported to China, the translation of movie titles has become an interesting topic in the study of translation. The artistic, commercial and social features characterize the film titles, so the translation of movie titles is an important and creative process. This paper aims to discuss the method and strategy of translation of movie titles. It points out that in translating movie titles literal translation and free translation ought to supplement and complement each other. The choice made by translators of these two methods is determined by the readers’ acceptance of the titles translated.

摘要：随着越来越多的外国电影被引进中国市场，电影名的翻译逐渐成为翻译界的一个热门话题。电影是一种集艺术性，商业性和社会性为一体的艺术形式，因此电影片名翻译是一项重要而富有创造性的工作。本文探讨影片名的翻译方法和策略，指出直译和意译两种策略不是矛盾的，而是相互补充。而译者选用何种方法最终取决于读者。
