Abstract: Translation theory plays an important role in translation practice, and a qualified translator should have theoretical qualification. The characteristics of translation decide that a qualified translator should also be skilled at using the source language and the target language, as well as the related cultural background. This paper illustrates the essential qualities of a qualified translator from the perspective of theoretical qualification, Chinese and English qualification, and culture qualification.

摘要：在翻译这门学科的发展过程中理论所发挥的作用是不可忽略的，一个好的译者必须掌握一些翻译理论和技巧。同时翻译作为一种语言转换的工作的特征决定了一个好的译者还必须能够熟练的掌握源语言和目标语言技能，并了解源语言和目标语言所对应的文化。本文从理论素养，中英文素养和背景知识素养等方面探讨一名合格译者的综合素养在翻译中所起的重要作用。
