Abstract:One of the most important tasks of Foreign Language Teaching in our country is to study what role(s) foreign language teacher(s) play in the classroom. Without a doubt, teachers play indispensable parts in English education industry. And they play different roles in the class such as learners, controllers, organizers, instructors, guides, facilitators, participants, advisors and assessors. Probably, by playing these roles well, teachers can help students study well. It also can make learners learn easier, faster, more enjoyable, self-directed, effective, and also help learners to guide their own learning through organizing, planning, and evaluating. This study aims at finding out what roles teachers play in English teaching of grade seven. The writer uses two research instruments (classroom observation and interview) to investigate what roles teachers play in English teaching.

摘要:我国外语教学的一项最重要的任务是了解教师在教学中所扮演的角色。毫无疑问教师在英语教学中是必不可少的一部分。并且在教学中他们扮演不同的角色，比如学习者，控制者，组织者，传授者，引导者，促进者，参加者，建议者和评价者。通过扮演好这些角色，教师能更好的帮助学生学习。可以使学习者的学习更方便、更快捷、更愉快、更自主、更有效；而且能帮助学习者通过组织、规划和评价来有效的引导自己的学习。本文主要是了解初一英语教师在英语教学中所扮演的角色。作者用了两种研究工具（课堂观察和采访）来分析教师在英语教学中所扮演的角色。
