Abstract:English political speeches often penetrate with a strong religious color, which is a reflection of nation and culture backgrounds of Western countries in daily communication. Just as someone says, culture is a mirror, from which we can penetrate different living environments and life experiences of different nationalities. The colonialists are the earliest group who realized the great significance of modern cultural strategy in civilization conflicts. Thus, conscientiously, they applied this cultural influence to political and military struggles both nationally and internationally. As a foundation symbol of certain culture, religion can be the most symbolic flag in conflict and its existence can be the combination of power of belief and wisdom of the nation. It is here that this kind of cultural and religious strategy most vividly reveal themselves in Western politicians’ speeches. English political speech, which is aimed at a nation’s internal affairs and diplomatic relations, is to manifest one’s standpoint, to clarify one’s viewpoint, and to popularize one’s opinion. Therefore, it is one of the most important weapons in political wars.
This essay aims to study how Christianity exerts influence on psychology of politicians as well as the Western politics and the harmony of the world in the future. At the same time, this essay proposes some advice on how to build our own nation’s belief system.
