Abstract:Eco-translatology, proposed by Hu Gengshen, Tsinghua University professor in 2001 on the Third Asian Translators’ Forum, makes a study of translation under the guidance of ecology, which provides a new perspective for the study of translation and subtitle translation. Based on the Eco-translatology, this paper makes an analysis of the subtitle translation of The Great Gatsby from dimensions of linguistics, culture and communication, revealing that translators should strive to adapt themselves to translational eco-environment from multi-dimensions to achieve the best translation of subtitle.
