Abstract:As an indispensible part of the film, the importance of the film title is self-evident. So far, the study on film title translation has attracted quite a few scholars’ attention from different perspectives. However, few of the research have been done from the perspective of Eco-translatology, which has begun to gain many scholars’ attention and been applied in the study on various literature aspects such as novels, poetry, prose and play. This thesis attempts to make a tentative study on the translation of film titles under the guidance of the“three-dimensional principle” from the perspective of Eco-translatology.
The thesis begins with a brief review of Eco-translatology Theory and the features and functions of film titles are mentioned. Next, specific film titles are elaborated and analyzed under the three-dimension principles. Finally, a conclusion is drawn that translators need to take into account not only the elements in the film but also the eco-environment in the film market. The thesis is expected to make a little contribution to the research of film title translation and application of eco-translatology.
