Abstract:This essay aims, firstly, to illustrate verbal communication and nonverbal communication in the context of intercultural communication. Furthermore, it investigates into the difference between nonverbal communication and verbal communication; secondly, the paper attempts to briefly introduce the definition, features, application of business etiquette and the significance of business etiquette. Thirdly, the research focuses on analyzing the meaning and features of proxemics and olfactics and comparing the difference in business etiquette practiced in China and the U.S. from the perspective of proxemics and olfactics. This essay concludes that bushiness etiquette, which is easily neglected, has an important role when perceived in proxemics and olfactics. The essay finally expects to help people to understand the different cultures so as to achieve an effective communication.
