Abstract:With the deepening of globalization and China’s reform and opening up, international communication is becoming extremely frequent. People all over the world pay more and more attention to China’s earth-shaking changes in all fields. As we all know, language is the carrier of culture and words can reflect the development of culture.  Chinese culturally-loaded words can reveal China’s core values, long history and brilliant culture, so they are of great importance in external publicity. This paper is a survey of Chinese culturally-loaded words in C-E translation. It discusses the definition, characteristics and classification of Chinese culturally-loaded words, followed by the current situation of Chinese culturally-loaded words in C-E translation, including investigation of Chinese culturally-loaded words in American’s mainstream newspaper. Finally, it explores and analyzes several problems in the translation process.
