Abstract:Extracurricular English teaching is a very important part of the whole teaching and learning system. Krashen divides the whole learning process into two parts: Input and Output. In addition, he puts forward the affective filter hypothesis, the natural order hypothesis and so on, which has the directive function for the English extracurricular teaching activities.
The author sets up a research programme for fifty students from School of Language of Jiangnan university. According the outcome of the research, the author draws the conclusion that the easy and relaxed atmosphere can increase students’ interests and confidence; and the different activities has different effects. According the research, author makes a series of suggestions for the -English teaching, hoping it can help improve students’ English ability.
This research aims to discuss the effect of English extracurricular activities in English teaching and learning and hopes to let teachers realize its importance so that they can conduct more colorful English extracurricular activities to cultivate the learners’ interests in language learning.
